Bill Cosby's accusers are to give details of sexual abuse allegations in a television special which is to air in the US later this week.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Actress Louisa Moritz and model Beverly Johnson are among those who were interviewed for the special which airs on A&E on Thursday night.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
The women are expected to detail the claims made against the entertainer and the damage to Cosby's career and image in Cosby: The Women Speak.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
More than two dozen women have accused Cosby of sexually assaulting them, sometimes after they had been drugged.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
A defamation suit in Massachusetts and a civil sexual-assault case in California are pending.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Cosby, who has never been charged with a crime, has acknowledged having sex with many women and obtaining Quaaludes to use during sex. He has denied some of the claims.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Earlier this week it emerged that the 78-year-old has asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit by a event organiser AIG which is seeking to avoid paying for his defence against defamation claims by some of the women.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
AIG sued Cosby in Massachusetts and California in June over homeowner's insurance policies it issued to him in those states.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
It said these provide coverage for personal injury claims, which include defamation, but not for personal injury claims arising from "sexual, physical or mental abuse".</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.skynews.com/media/images/generated/2015/7/27/408359/default/v1/cosbycoveronbackground-1-589x442.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.skynews.com/media/images/generated/2015/7/27/408359/default/v1/cosbycoveronbackground-1-589x442.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
<br /></div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
Cosby is defending against defamation lawsuits by Tamara Green, Therese Serignese, Linda Traitz in Massachusetts, and the model Janice Dickinson in California, spurred by denials by the entertainer or his representatives of claims of sexual misconduct.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
In a Monday filing in the federal court in Springfield, Massachusetts, Cosby said he would face "substantial prejudice" by being forced to defend simultaneously against AIG over the policies, and against the women over the defamation claims.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
"Forcing Mr Cosby to fight a four-front battle would demonstrate AIG's complete disregard for the best interests of Mr Cosby," his lawyers wrote.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
"Not only does AIG's action bolster the underlying plaintiffs, who will perceive Mr Cosby as under attack even from his supposed backers, but it splits Mr Cosby's focus and drains his resources."</div>

<div class="story__intro" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextMedium, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<div class="story__intro" style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextMedium, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Britain should adopt a law banning very thin models from the catwalk, according to the chairwoman of a group of MPs.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Caroline Noakes MP, who heads the All Parliamentary Group on Body Image, said legislation should be considered if a voluntary code of conduct is not effective.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Several countries are demanding models should have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of at least 18 - 18.5 to take part in shows.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
But the British Fashion Council insists BMI is not an accurate measurement for young women and the focus is on looking after models and encouraging health and wellbeing with nutritious food and drink provided backstage.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Rosie Nelson, 23, a naturally thin model who is a clothes size 8 to 10 with a BMI below the recommended level, said: "Personally, my BMI is less than 18, so if they brought in a standard, I would be rejected straight away. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
"I think almost 90% of models have a BMI of less than 18, so every model would be out of a job. When I look in the mirror I see someone that is healthy and I am living by my own standard. I eat balanced meals, so I think I look good and healthy".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.skynews.com/media/images/generated/2015/9/17/418709/default/v1/cegrab-20150917-062659-0-1-736x414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.skynews.com/media/images/generated/2015/9/17/418709/default/v1/cegrab-20150917-062659-0-1-736x414.jpg" height="180" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
But at Hughes Models, a Plus-Sized Agency in Central London, women believe the catwalk should </div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
reflect people of all shapes and sizes.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Elia Thompson, who modelled at the UK Plus Size Fashion Week said: "I definitely feel different body types should be represented because the world is filled with so many body shapes.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
"They should look at the different brands and how much is sold so that they can decide".</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
Earlier this year France became the latest country to vote to criminalise the use of models who are dangerously thin. Those breaking the law face fines and up to six months in jail. Ms Noakes is pushing for Britain to follow suit.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
As the industry eagerly awaits London Fashion Week the so-called size zero debate is again high on the agenda, with many insisting new legislation is the only thing that can force change.</div>

A Royal Marine jailed for the murder of a Taliban insurgent in Afghanistan let professional standards "slip" and showed "poor leadership", a review has found.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
The Royal Navy internal review looked at events surrounding the shooting of the wounded captive by Sergeant Alexander Blackman in Helmand province in September 2011.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Blackman, 39, who was serving with Plymouth-based 42 Commando, quoted Shakespeare as he shot the man in the chest at close range.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

A redacted 12-page executive summary of the Navy's review says: "Sgt Blackman allowed professional standards to slip to an unacceptable low level.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
"His poor leadership was a significant contributory factor in the way the insurgent was treated by other members of the patrol."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
The review also says "moral disengagement" played a significant part in the way Sgt Blackman and his team behaved.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

Footage from another marine's helmet-mounted camera showed Blackman blasting the Afghan prisoner with a 9mm pistol.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Blackman was then heard telling him: "There you are. Shuffle off this mortal coil... It's nothing you wouldn't do to us."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

During his trial at Bulford Court Martial Centre in Wiltshire two years ago, Blackman, from Taunton in Somerset, denied murder.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
He said he believed the victim was already dead and he was taking out his anger on a corpse.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
In the meantime, Wednesday evening will be fine for many, but south-east Wales and central and southern England will have outbreaks of heavy rain.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Thundery downpours will give tricky driving conditions and some flooding.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
The rain in the blustery south will ease and clear eastwards overnight, leaving most places dry, but Ireland can expect a few showers.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

Thursday will bring good sunny spells, with any early fog lifting, but East Anglia and the south-east may start rather cloudy.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Thundery downpours are possible.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
England and Wales will stay largely fine, but the odd shower is likely in the west later.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

Friday will bring yet more showers, some heavy in the south-east, but the weekend looks mainly fine.</div>

<span style="background-color: white;"><a href="http://casamononyc.com/">Casa Mono</a> has a lot to answer for. Founded by Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich in 2003, it was among the earliest and most influential restaurants to twist the Spanish tapas idiom into what New Yorkers learned to call small-plates dining. The Casa Mono style has spread far and wide, leaving in its wake a trail of cluttered tables, unpredictably sequenced dishes, and diners reduced to asking pathetically, “Will that be enough food?”</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="483" data-total-count="921" itemprop="reviewBody" style="font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">All of this might earn Casa Mono the historical notoriety bestowed on early tremors of annoying or inconvenient trends, like the first spam email, if it weren’t the case that almost everyone agrees that Casa Mono has always been very good. To that I’ll add a contention of my own. The pleasures of eating there are both richer and more varied than in 2004, when this tiny, perpetually crowded restaurant was last reviewed in The New York Times. (Marian Burros gave it <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/28/dining/restaurants-tapas-for-really-close-friends.html">two stars</a>.)</span></div>

Roasted piquillo peppers filled with juicy braised oxtail were on the menu then, are there now, and probably will be forever. The seared skirt steak, served with sweet stewed onions and a romesco that crunches with coarsely chopped almonds, is still one of the most elementally satisfying one-course meals near Union Square. It’s even better if you eat it alone at the bar, which may be your only option on those nights when reservations are impossible.</span></div>

<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="115" data-total-count="115" id="story-continues-1" itemprop="articleBody" style="color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">

<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="115" data-total-count="115" id="story-continues-1" itemprop="articleBody" style="color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">COPENHAGEN — “Welcome to the new Noma,” the chef René Redzepi said on a bright summer day. “This is it.”</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="385" data-total-count="500" itemprop="articleBody" style="color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Mr. Redzepi, 37, the godfather of the New Nordic movement and the chef at Noma, arguably the world’s most influential restaurant at the moment, was standing outside what looked like an auditorium-size crack den. Used spray-paint cans lay in heaps amid the weeds of an abandoned lot. Street art covered the walls of an empty warehouse; inside, teenagers rumbled around on skateboards.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="186" data-total-count="686" itemprop="articleBody" style="color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">World-class culinary destination? The site, right outside the ragged border of this city’s freewheeling Christiania neighborhood, seemed more like the Four Seasons after an apocalypse.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="186" data-total-count="686" itemprop="articleBody" style="color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">But Mr. Redzepi envisioned something else as he climbed a staircase to a tar-papered roof and gazed out at a lake on the edge of the property. In what qualifies as a wildly risky roll of the dice, he plans to close Noma after a final service on New Year’s Eve in 2016. He hopes to reopen for business in 2017 with a new menu and a new mission.</span></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="137" data-total-count="1168" itemprop="articleBody" style="color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">As a crucial part of that, he wants to transform this decrepit patch of land into a state-of-the-art urban farm, with Noma at its center.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; color: #6c4232; font-family: Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16.7999992370605px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">

<span style="background-color: white;">“It makes sense to do it here,” he said, despite visual evidence to the contrary. “It makes sense to have your own farm, as a restaurant of this caliber.” His plans are nothing if not ambitious. He will put a greenhouse on the roof. He will dig out the dank old asphalt lot and truck in fresh soil. He wants part of the farm to float.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;">“We’ll build a raft, and we’ll put a huge field on the raft,” he said. “We need a full-time farmer with a team.”</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;">SPENCERTOWN, N.Y. — Ruth Reichl was in the kitchen she designed as both command center and comfort station, making a salami sandwich for her husband, Michael Singer, 75, a former CBS News producer who has been recovering from back surgery.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;">This, now, is life for Ms. Reichl. At 67, she is softer, less anxious and, her friends say, a happier version of the cautious workaholic who was the food editor at The Los Angeles Times, the restaurant critic at The New York Times, a best-selling memoirist and, for a decade, the editor of Gourmet, the oldest food and wine magazine in America.</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;">She makes her husband three meals a day when she is not traveling. She writes in a little cabin set a few dozen paces behind the sleek house with glass walls that the couple built 11 years ago here on a shale plateau between the Hudson River and the Berkshires. And she cooks for just about anyone who walks in the door.</span></div>

Stuart Horner, who was locked up in 2012 for killing his uncle, came down early on Wednesday morning.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
The 35-year-old gingerly made his way across the roof to a waiting cherry-picker on which he was lowered to the ground.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
He reportedly said: "I've proved my point. I've got a 12in pizza and a can of coke. I've done what I wanted. I've had a mad one."</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Horner began his protest on Sunday afternoon when he clambered over an 18ft fence to get on top of the high-security jail, officially known as HMP Manchester.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
At various times he stripped to his underpants, smashed window panes, kicked CCTV security cameras and and climbed on chimneys.</div>

He is believed to have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
Horner is serving a minimum of 27 years for shooting dead his uncle, Ian Taylor, after a long-running family feud.</div>

It is unclear exactly why he was protesting, although he yelled down to reporters about conditions at the jail.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
He also scrawled messages on his shirt.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; box-sizing: border-box; color: #333333; font-family: SkyTextRegular, Helvetica, Arial, Verdana; font-size: 12px; line-height: 26px; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">

One said: "It's not 1990 tell the Gov we've all had enough. Sort the whole system." Another proclaimed his innocence.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
He also shouted he wanted to stay on the roof for 40 days and 40 nights to break a previous record.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
Crowds gathered below to watch Horner, who had food, water, cigarettes and blankets with him.</div>
<div style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px auto 1em; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px;">
Some yelled words of encouragement, as did his fellow inmates.</div>

<span style="background-color: white;">The WWF says humans have caused the decline in marine species through overfishing, destruction of habitats like seagrass beds and mangrove swamps, and through climate change, which has caused ocean acidification.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Experts warn the latter <a href="http://www.newser.com/story/205252/worst-case-for-oceans-another-great-dying.html" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank">could cause a "Great Dying"</a> even worse than what has taken place over the last few decades. Some of the steepest declines were among fish caught for food, including tuna and mackerel, which are down almost 75%, the BBC reports.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">"In less than a human generation, we can see dramatic losses in ocean wildlife—they have declined by half—and their habitats have been degraded and destroyed," a WWF spokesman tells <a href="http://news.discovery.com/animals/endangered-species/half-of-all-marine-life-lost-in-just-40-years-150916.htm" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank">Discovery</a>.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="239" data-total-count="239" id="story-continues-1" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
Say ‘‘mushroom mille-feuille’’ to most veteran cooks and eaters, and they will most likely picture a golden mound of puff pastry filled with wild mushrooms in cream and herbs — a fine dish, if old-fashioned and increasingly rare.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="26" data-total-count="265" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
This is nothing like that.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="382" data-total-count="647" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
Early this summer, I was steered by the elbow to Dirty French, the newest New York restaurant from Rich Torrisi and his partners. Their first, Torrisi Italian Specialties, a reimagining of Italian-American classics, opened in 2009 on Mulberry Street. Dirty French, which opened in the fall of 2014 on Ludlow Street, handles sort-of-classic French food in a similarly playful manner.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="382" data-total-count="647" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
And that’s where I was commanded by my dinner companion to order the mushroom mille-feuille: ‘‘It’s the best thing on the menu,’’ he insisted. I wasn’t sure what would be placed before us, but I certainly wasn’t expecting this: layers of paper-thin mushroom slices, seasoned, buttered, pressed in a pan and chilled for a day, then sliced and seared and served with a piquant sauce.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="502" data-total-count="1546" id="story-continues-3" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
Think of the best pommes Anna, but with the firm, chewy texture of good mushrooms, perfectly crisped and graced with a colorful purée. It’s not literally a mille-feuille, which translates as ‘‘a thousand leaves,’’ but more like 50 or 75 layers. The sauce, which on my first visit was a green curry made with ramps, is neither irrelevant nor lily-gilding, though the mille-feuille itself is so enticing that just a little soy sauce and lemon would complement the mushrooms’ earthiness well.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="588" data-total-count="2134" id="story-continues-4" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
Simple as it sounds, this dish was the most interesting thing I’d eaten in months. The next morning, I was on the phone with Torrisi, asking him if the mille-feuille was too complicated for us — that is, for you and me, ordinary home cooks. ‘‘With a little patience, anyone can do it,’’ he said. Soon I was in the Dirty French kitchen, where Torrisi, along with Dai Matsuda, the chef de cuisine, greeted me with a huge pile of sliced king trumpet mushrooms and a pot of melted butter. In their hot and busy kitchen, we went to work, buttering, salting, layering and repeating.</div>

<a href="http://static01.nyt.com/images/2015/09/16/dining/16MARTHA/16MARTHA-master675.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://static01.nyt.com/images/2015/09/16/dining/16MARTHA/16MARTHA-master675.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="162" data-total-count="162" id="story-continues-1" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
<br /></div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="162" data-total-count="162" id="story-continues-1" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
Nose around for borscht recipes, and you’ll find that most classic hot borschts call for beef stock or a beef or veal shank to simmer along with the vegetables.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="218" data-total-count="380" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
I wanted to make a lighter, vegetarian version of hot borscht. But I also wanted my soup to have the kind of depth of flavor that a meaty backdrop provides, without overpowering the winelike, heady flavor of the beets.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="80" data-total-count="460" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
So, as I often do when faced with this kind of challenge, I turned to mushrooms.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="326" data-total-count="786" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
I made a strong broth by soaking dried mushrooms, and combined that with a red-beet-and-garlic broth that was the result of simmering beets with sliced garlic for 30 minutes. I used shiitakes for my broth one time, and porcinis another. The shiitake broth is a bit lighter, with more of a mineral edge to it; I like them both.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="326" data-total-count="786" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
There are lots of fresh mushrooms in this soup as well. You can use regular white buttons or creminis. They’re sliced and cooked in olive oil with onion, carrots, celery and garlic, then simmered with the beets in the combined beet-and-mushroom broth.</div>
<div class="story-body-text story-content" data-para-count="326" data-total-count="786" itemprop="articleBody" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: georgia, 'times new roman', times, serif; font-size: 16px; line-height: 1.4375rem; margin: 0px 0px 1em 135px; max-width: 540px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify; width: 532px;">
Make sure to buy your beets with the greens attached, the more generous the bunch the better, as you’ll be adding the leaves to the soup toward the end of its simmer, making it all the more heady, healthy and satisfying.</div>

<span style="background-color: white;">Archaeologists in Ireland have unearthed startling details about the strange medieval skeleton found in the roots of a 215 year-old tree.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The beech tree in Collooney, Sligo, fell during a storm earlier this year, revealing the macabre sight of a skeleton trapped in its roots. The Irish National Monuments Service brought in experts from Sligo-Leitrim Archaeological Services to excavate and analyze the remains, revealing a grisly tale.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px;">

<span style="background-color: white;">“He had been killed violently,” Marion Dowd, director of Sligo-Leitrim Archaeological Services, told FoxNews.com. “We have stab wounds in the upper chest and they were inflicted by a knife – we also have a stab wound in the left hand, which suggests that he was trying to defend himself.”</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The skeleton is of a young man between the ages of 17 and 20. Radiocarbon analysis has dated the remains to between 900 and 1,000 years old.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 16.7999992370605px; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px;">

<span style="background-color: white;">“We don’t know if he was killed in a battle or if this was a personal dispute,” said Dowd, noting that the body was originally buried in a Christian fashion with its head pointing to the west. “His family or community must have buried him,” she added.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Dowd told FoxNews.com that whoever planted the tree was unaware of the grave. “It’s completely coincidental – the context is unusual,” she said. “There are historical records that say there was a church and graveyard in the area, but there are no remains visible today.”</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;">It's easy to look around the West and see startling signs of the region's drought. Trickier, but perhaps just as startling, is to <span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: bold;">hear </span>signs of that same drought.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Researcher Bernie Krause has made it possible thanks to decades of recordings at California's Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, reports <span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: bold;"><a href="http://www.outsideonline.com/2014741/sound-drought" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank">Outside Online</a></span>. <span style="background-color: white;">Over the years, a creek that runs through the park has dried up, and the sounds of wildlife—or "biophony"—have dried up along with it. By Krause's measurements, the biophony is down fivefold since 2004.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">He is now working with a researcher at the University of Urbino in Italy to translate his recordings into hard data for scientists. “It’s a true narrative, a story telling us that something is desperately wrong,” Krause tells <span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: bold;">Outside</span>.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Krause himself says he didn't realize the extent of the decline until <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XNGEejrLzY" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank">playing recordings</a> from previous years side by side with more modern ones. At the <a href="http://blog.sfgate.com/morford/2015/09/14/the-silence-of-the-birds/" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank"><span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: bold;">San Francisco Chronicle</span></a>, Mark Morford finds Krause's work "chilling," summing up thusly: "What once was a rich, varied symphony of sound has become a far more subdued chamber orchestra, with large spaces of eerie silence where there was once a vast natural racket, signifying everything." The 77-year-old Krause tells the <span style="box-sizing: border-box; font-weight: bold;">Globe </span>that he's not "terribly optimistic" about change, but “I am hopeful that we’ll begin to hear the message these critters are putting out in time to do something about saving them.” (Scientists now say California's snowpack <a href="http://www.newser.com/story/212824/california-mountains-reveal-worst-water-news-in-500-years.html" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank">is at a 500-year low</a>.)</span></div>

<span style="background-color: white;"><span class="dateline" style="box-sizing: border-box;">SEATTLE – </span>An archaeological survey to clear the way for construction near a mall has unearthed thousands of stone tools crafted at least 10,000 years ago.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">"We were pretty amazed," archaeologist Robert Kopperl, who led the field investigation, told <a href="http://goo.gl/bVH7Oq" style="box-sizing: border-box; color: #183a52;" target="_blank">The Seattle Times</a>. "This is the oldest archaeological site in the Puget Sound lowland with stone tools."</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The rare find is shedding light on a time when prehistoric bison and mammoths still roamed what is now western Washington. Only a handful of archaeological sites dating back 10,000 years or more have been discovered in the region.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Chemical analysis of one of the tools revealed traces of the food they were eating, including bison, deer, bear, sheep and salmon. The dig also uncovered a fragment of salmon bone, evidence that the fish made its way up local streams for at least 10,000 years. It also revealed other unusual tools, including the bottoms of two spear points that have concave bases.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The site near Redmond Town Center mall in Redmond, Washington, was initially surveyed in 2009, as the city embarked on a project to restore salmon habitat in Bear Creek, a tributary of the Sammamish River. The creek had been confined to a rock-lined channel decades before.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The Washington State Department of Transportation largely paid for the salmon-restoration project as a way to mitigate some of the environmental impacts of building the new Highway 520 floating bridge over Lake Washington and widening the roadway.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">The site appears to have been occupied by small groups of people who were making and repairing stone tools, said Kopperl, of SWCA Environmental Consultants. He and his colleagues published their initial analysis earlier this year in the journal PaleoAmerica.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">"This was a very good place to have a camp," Kopperl said. "They could use it as a centralized location to go out and fish and hunt and gather and make stone tools."</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Crews initially found unremarkable artifacts. But when they dug deeper, they found a foot-thick layer of peat — remains of a bog at least 10,000 years old. Below the peat, they later discovered a wealth of tools and fragments.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">"We knew right away that it was a pretty significant find," Washington State Historic Preservation Officer Allyson Brooks told The Times.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Kopperl said that because of where the artifacts were located below the peat, which had not been disturbed, it's clear they predate the formation of the peat. Radiocarbon analysis conducted on charcoal fragments found with the tools confirmed the age.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">"It's hard to find this kind of site west of the Cascades, because it's so heavily vegetated and the Puget Lobe of the big ice sheet really affected the landscape," Kopperl told the newspaper.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">A handful of sites have been discovered east of the mountains with tools dating back between 12,000 and 14,000 years.</span></div>
<div style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: 0px 0px; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; box-sizing: border-box; color: #222222; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 1.5; margin: 0px 0px 24px; padding: 0px; text-align: justify;">
<span style="background-color: white;">So it's clear that humans have lived in the area since soon after the glaciers retreated, but a lot of mystery still surrounds the region's earliest occupants and their origins, The Times reported. When Kopperl and his team are done analyzing the artifacts, they will hand them over to the Muckleshoot Tribe for curation. There are no immediate plans to display the artifacts publicly.</span></div>

The 11th season of “The Bachelorette” ended Monday with Kaitlyn Bristowe picking Shawn Booth. The couple are engaged and are making plans for a life together. But describing Booth as the “winner” doesn’t quite seem right. <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/Seth Meyers" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(102, 102, 102) !important; border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; display: inline !important; float: none !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" title="">Seth Meyers</culink> joked that it’s not the best way to tell the story of how you met your fiancée: “I won her on a game show.” And what about runner-up Nick Viall? It’s the second time he made it to the finale and was cut. Find out what the other comics thought about who really won in this webisode of Punchlines.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Our broken campaign finance system has many harmful effects on our democracy beyond elections themselves. Among the worst, it exacerbates our nation's enduring racial and economic disparities by permitting the most powerful to spend billions to elect their preferred candidates and dictate policy while sidelining those who can't afford jumbo contributions. And because wealthy special interests can hide behind "dark money" groups that don't disclose their donors, the public increasingly does not even know who they are.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Since the Supreme Court's misguided <em>Citizens United </em>decision in 2010, dark money groups who disclose <em>none </em>of their donors have spent <a href="https://www.brennancenter.org/blog/courts-shine-light-dark-money" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">well over $600 million</a> (according to the Brennan Center for Justice) on federal elections and are poised to set <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/27/us/politics/kochs-plan-to-spend-900-million-on-2016-campaign.html?_r=0" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">new records</a> in 2016. Anecdotal evidence suggests that a lot of this money comes from major firms seeking to curry favor with the government. Dark money is a perfect way for these interests to avoid the scrutiny of voters and their own shareholders.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Dark money also takes a particularly toxic toll on poor and minority communities. We know these communities <a href="http://www.demos.org/sites/default/files/publications/StackedDeck2_1.pdf" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">do not share</a>the policy priorities of the political donor class. On issue after issue — from the minimum wage, to paid sick leave, to the regulation of predatory lenders — it is the donor class whose views and priorities win out in the end.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
President Obama <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/07/26/president-obama-citizens-united-imagine-power-will-give-special-interests-over-polit" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">has spoken eloquently</a> against dark money. But with a hostile Congress, many assume words are all he can offer to stem the tide of secret election spending. They're not.</div>

LOS ANGELES — Microsoft vows to have 1 billion folks using the new Windows 10 by 2018.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Is that a stretch?</div>

Not really, says analyst <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/Tim Bajarin" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(250, 102, 0) !important; border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; display: inline !important; float: none !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" title="">Tim Bajarin</culink> of Creative Strategies.</div>

The PC industry sells from 275 million to 300 million computers yearly with Windows pre-installed. Three years of sales plus upgrades, “and it’s easy to get to 1 billion,” he says.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Wednesday, the new Windows 10 is available as a download, initially aimed at enthusiasts who signed up to be early adopters.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Richard Doherty, an analyst with the Envisioneering Group, says some 600 million to 650 million users of Windows 7 and Windows 8 qualify for the free upgrade, but most — about two-thirds — will wait a few months before giving it a try.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
“It’s always the more technically inclined who start the upgrade process for first 6 to 9 months,” says Bajarin, “The general consumer will wait" because they’ll want to make sure issues with download speeds, lost connections and other kinks are worked out first.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Also, most of the Windows 10 sales will be to businesses, which traditionally stall the longest before upgrading, says Bajarin.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
“We don’t expect serious upgrades until the second or third quarter of next year,” he adds.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
While Apple computers have a huge presence on TV shows and college campuses and at tech start-ups, it’s good to remember that most consumers and businesses are overwhelmingly Windows based, notes Bajarin.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Apple sells around 16 million computers a year — a far cry from the nearly 300 million Windows PCs.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Hunting is one of America's favorite pastimes, offering camaraderie, a sense of self accomplishment and ultimately the purest meat source one can put on a family table. More important, hunters play a big role in preserving and protecting our world's great wildlife. That's why it is sad to see front pages taken over by the actions of an <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2015/07/28/american-dentist-says-he-regrets-killing-cecil-the-lion-believed-zimbabwe-hunt-was-legal/" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">unscrupulous professional hunter</a> and a dentist with a record of flouting the rules that ensure hunting and conservation go hand in hand.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
In other words, there's a greater picture here than one law-breaking hunt. Through the sales of hunting licenses, equipment and tags, sportsmen in the U.S. contribute <a href="http://digitalmedia.fws.gov/cdm/ref/collection/document/id/1307" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">$2.9 billion</a> every year for conservation. As a result, many of the most popular wildlife species in America <a href="http://digitalmedia.fws.gov/cdm/ref/collection/document/id/1307" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">have rebounded</a> from near-extinction levels.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Hunters are happy to pay to improve habitat, protect our streams, rivers and lakes and ensure our wildlands remain healthy. We know that in order for future generations to enjoy our hunting heritage, we need to be responsible stewards of wildlife. Charged with the protection and management of wildlife, state fish and game agencies receive approximately <a href="http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:jvNSSoIeuu0J:www.doi.gov/oig/news/testimonies/upload/TestimonyMKendall041415.pdf+&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">75% of funding</a> from hunter/angler/shooter dollars paid in license, tag and permit fees, and through the federal aid in the <a href="http://www.epw.senate.gov/envlaws/pittman.pdf" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act</a>.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Hunters generate millions of dollars and provide thousands of volunteer man hours to non-profits such as <a href="http://www.ducks.org/how-to-help/volunteer" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">Ducks Unlimited</a> and the <a href="http://www.rmef.org/HowToHelp/Volunteer.aspx" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation</a>. More than <a href="http://www.ducks.org/conservation/habitat/benefits-of-wetlands-and-grasslands" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">10 million acres</a> of wetlands have been restored by <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/Ducks Unlimited" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(102, 102, 102) !important; border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; display: inline !important; float: none !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" title="">Ducks Unlimited</culink> alone. And organizations like the <a href="http://www.ussportsmen.org/government-affairs/" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">Sportsmen's Alliance</a> and the <a href="http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/about" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">Safari Club International</a> lobbying for the regulation of ethical hunting and the <a href="http://www.rmef.org/Conservation/HuntingIsConservation/NorthAmericanWildlifeConservationModel.aspx" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">North American wildlife conservation model</a>around the world.</div>

<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Yelp, the crowed-sourced reviews site, has taken a big hit from shareholders after a review of its own.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Shares of the site toppled 28% Wednesday after it reported grim second-quarter earnings Tuesday and also announced that chairman <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/Max Levchin" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(250, 102, 0) !important; border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; display: inline !important; float: none !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" title="">Max Levchin</culink> is leaving.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Yelp reported a second-quarter loss of $1.3 million (two cents a share) compared to the $2.7 million (four cents a share) profit it registered for the same quarter a year ago, according to its <a href="http://www.yelp-ir.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=250809&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2071965" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">earnings report released Tuesday.</a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Due to "lower sales headcount growth" and the elimination of its "brand-advertising product," or display advertising, the company said, it slashed revenue guidance from $544 million to $500 million for the year, which is down from prior guidance of $574 million to $579 million.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Meanwhile, the company announced that Levchin, co-founder of <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/PayPal" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(250, 102, 0) !important; border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; display: inline !important; float: none !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" title="">PayPal</culink> and an early investor in Yelp, <a href="http://www.yelp-ir.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=250809&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2071965" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">has resigned from his position</a> as chairman of the board of directors to pursue other interests, effective immediately.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
The company's board has yet to appoint a new chairman, but plans to consider the issue at its September meeting.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
"I am extremely proud of what Yelp has accomplished over the last 11 years and believe I leave it well-positioned to take advantage of the large local advertising market," Levchin said in a statement Tuesday.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Yelp, the digital version of word-of-mouth recommendations, posts reviews of local businesses ranging from boutiques to hair salons to restaurants. The company was founded in 2004, and has taken hold in major metro areas across 31 countries.</div>

<a href="http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/1b9a38ee353fb9b71396d8d55e032bd75766849c/c=137-0-1119-738&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/2015/07/28/USATODAY/USATODAY/635737079371250524-Google-ChromeScreenSnapz037.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/1b9a38ee353fb9b71396d8d55e032bd75766849c/c=137-0-1119-738&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/2015/07/28/USATODAY/USATODAY/635737079371250524-Google-ChromeScreenSnapz037.png" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
LOS ANGELES - We’ve all done it.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Fired off an e-mail, and then regretted it moments later. Perhaps it was an act of rage, or maybe we spelled something wrong and knew we could do better.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
There should be an app for taking back e-mails, right?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Well, there is, and I’ve been playing with it this week. It’s called <a href="https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/dmail/fblelgmhengcpjogkpmmhjghbcelaake" style="color: #1990e5; text-decoration: none;">Dmail</a>, and while I like the concept, I really don’t like the app.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Or put another way, my recipients hate it. They’re upset with me for using Dmail on them.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
To use Dmail, you download an extension for Gmail and the <culink class="culinks" culang="en" href="http://curiyo.com/en/topic/Google Chrome" style="border-bottom-color: rgb(250, 102, 0) !important; border-bottom-style: dashed; border-bottom-width: 1px; cursor: help; display: inline !important; float: none !important; margin: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important;" title="">Google Chrome browser</culink>. It then puts Dmail into your e-mails, and gives you the option of yanking back an e-mail after you’ve sent it. You can also potentially stop folks from forwarding something you’ve sent.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Great--for you. But not for the folks in your address book.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Because in order to work correctly, without offending folks, they too have to have the Dmail extension in their browser and Gmail.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Otherwise, when you write folks, they get a link in an e-mail that they have to open to read your prose.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
And let’s face it--how many people do you know who are willing to do that for you?</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
I wouldn’t.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: 22px; margin-bottom: 15px; margin-left: 60px; text-align: justify;">
Once they start screaming at you about making them click a link to read your e-mail, you notice there's an on/off switch in your Gmail window. You can turn off the Dmail feature, and decide to use it sparingly--if at all.</div>
